WWDC 2019 is about to fall, less than a month before it officially takes place on 3 June, and there are more and more rumours about what we will see. From Bloomberg we get new details about what we might see during that conference. For example, new features of iOS 13 or the ones we will have in watchOS 6 and macOS 10.15 However, there are also clues about that long awaited new Mac Pro and the external monitor that will accompany it .
As indicated by Mark Gurman, it is very likely that we will also see some new developments in hardware even though WWDC is a conference focused on software . Specifically, he expects Apple to finally introduce the Mac Pro and the new official external monitor. The Mac Pro, as Apple itself has shown, will be modular.
The closest we have to a modular Mac right now is Mac mini 2018.
Apple’s official external monitor also generates a lot of curiosity. Apple is expected to jump to 6K resolution for this display. As detailed by Ming-Chi Kuo recently, it will have a size of 31.6 inches diagonal. Mark Gurman indicates that it will have a high dynamic range to improve its color range. Its internal name is now J290.
At AppleThe Mac Pro is 5 years old since its last renewal: when and how the next generation will be
If we look at Apple’s release history with respect to its Pro range, we can see that the Macs in Pro versions have recently reached the end of the year. The iMac Pro, for example, debuted in December, and if we go further back in time, the current Mac Pro debuted in December as well.
It would not be unusual for us to see a first look at these two new products at the developers’ conference but they will be released at the end of 2019. In either case, should be released sometime in the remainder of 2019 , as Apple indicated that the new Mac Pro is a 2019 product.
