Now that we are in the middle of the holiday season ( sooner or later, we will all have them ), it might be interesting to be able to see in pictures the place where we plan to travel : A convenient way to do this is by using Google’s Panoramio service.
Panoramio is a geolocator of photographs, i.e. it “clicks” images of the places in their exact location within Google maps . Thanks to this, we can use the convenience of searching for a place on the maps and then seeing some photograph of the place.
If we want to have this service a little more at hand, we have to install Photofinder : a widget for the Mac OS X Dashboard where we can move around the map and check the photos that are attached to each location . At that moment, we see a mosaic with all of them, which we can enlarge by making two clicks, or visit the website of Panoramio to see the photo in more detail.
As a weakness of the widget, the impossibility of searching for a place by name, which would have helped the facility to find some place we don’t know very well where it is. In any case, very useful for the more traveled and curious.
