WhatsApp will allow us to view media content from within the iOS notifications

WhatsApp comenzará a limitar el reenvío de mensajes entre grupos de usuarios

When someone sends us a photo or video via WhatsApp , the notification we receive shows the emoji of a camera indicating that we have media content to view. If we want to see it we’ll have to open the application specifically.

Well, it looks like this is going to change: from WABetaInfo they have discovered that the developers of WhatsApp are testing a new type of notifications for iOS, made from an extension, with which we will be able to see directly the pictures, videos or even animated GIFs that they send us without having to enter the conversation.

The multimedia content will not appear directly, but you can open it by pressing your finger on the notification using the 3D Touch features . In some cases we may have to download it, but this can be done from the preview itself without any problems as you can see in the header image.

If your iPhone doesn’t have 3D touch, you can open it from the Notification Center. Simply slide your finger down from the notification to see the content. In theory we should be able to see this new feature in the future version 2.18.80 of WhatsApp for iOS. Its approximate release date is not known.
