We say goodbye to the AirPort and welcome these alternatives in our Bargain Hunting

Apple’s possible exit from the wireless router market was rumored to be late 2016. It is now that Apple has officially confirmed this, the AirPort, AirPort Express and Time Capsule are no longer being developed so that they can focus on the products that generate the most revenue. But don’t worry, in our Bargain Hunters today we have both bargains and alternatives.

Before we start with the wireless router offerings, let’s look at a few bargains from the Apple universe that we shouldn’t miss out on:

  • On Ebay they have the 42mm Apple Watch Series 3 in space grey at 319 euros. An important discount if we take into account that its official price is 399 euros, and the Apple Watch Series 3 still has life ahead of it.
  • Perhaps the iPhone SE will have a renewal in the next few weeks, in the meantime we can get the current one thanks to a discount of no less than 40%. In other words, it goes from 489 euros to 248.99 euros in eglobal central.
  • We will continue with a few iPhones, for example the iPhone 8a 645 euros and the iPhone 8 Plusa 745 euros in Tuimeilibre. The only thing you have to do is apply the code ‘AppleDeals’ when making the purchase. Both models in the 64 GB version.
  • And one more from Tuimeilibre, this time the top product of the brand, the iPhone Xa 879 euros in the 64 GB version. Once again, we must apply the discount code ‘Iphonedeals64’ when making the purchase.
  • It never hurts to get hold of a few accessories, such as Belkin’s Qi Boost up wireless charging cradle that allows us to make use of fast charging on the latest iPhone. In Macnificos they have it at 49.99 euros while its official price is 64.99 euros.

Wireless routers and mesh networks as an alternative to Apple AirPorts

  • We started with Google’s solution to the problem of signal quality at home. We are talking about Google Wi-Fi, which allows us to have good coverage throughout the house thanks to the network they generate between them. Its price starts at 143 euros for a single unit, although it is advisable to buy a pack of several units to mount a network with better signal, for 366 euros the pack of three.
  • The Linksys Velop is beautiful on the outside and powerful on the inside. Once again, this is a series of bases that allow us to improve the Wi-Fi of the entire room thanks to the mesh network that is generated between the nodes. Thanks to the app we can control who connects to the network, parental controls or give priority to devices. Its price is 199 euros for a single node, 299 euros for two nodes and 429 euros for three nodes.
  • Four Gigabit Ethernet ports, WAN ports, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 is what the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 router offers. A good solution for those who are looking for a decent router for a house where the signal arrives correctly from a single point. Its price is about 150 euros in the 1900 Mbits version.

Finally, the devolo GigaGate solution, which offers a Wi-Fi bridge with a high signal quality. If you need to extend the Wi-Fi signal, this is one of the most suitable options in terms of specifications and price. The starter kit will cost 123 euros and each upgrade will cost 107 euros more. A Wi-Fi bridge that I have personally tested and the truth is that the only thing that will limit the connection speed will be your computer.
