Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Drake. you all have your Apple Watch. The rest, to wait until June or August to get one . It doesn’t matter if you live in the United States or Japan, the version you want or if you were ready from the first minutes when the reservation system was activated in the nine countries where it was made available today.
The estimated time for shipping the apple clock passed almost instantly to 4-6 weeks with most models dated June and some like the expensive Apple Watch Edition moving to August. Angela Ahrendts, head of the Apple Stores, had already warned that they were expecting “strong customer demand” that would exceed availability during the launch.
Of course, speculators have not been slow to flourish and it is already possible to find on eBay people reselling their reservations, including an Apple Watch Sport that will be sent in April for $599 (instead of the $349 it actually costs) or, better yet, the Apple Watch Edition with the black sports strap to be sent in May for $15,000, $5,000 more than its official price.
And this is just the beginning of the madness. Apple launched the watch today in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, but it won’t be until the next 24th that it will be “really” available online and by reservation at Apple stores. Considering the current ratio of units produced to demand, it is not clear when things will normalize, much less when they will reach other countries like ours.
