Steam’s Big Picture mode appeared in mid-September as a beta for Windows, but it has not yet reached the Apple platform. There’s not much to it: Big Picture transforms Steam’s interface into a kind of media center for video games so that it can be used with a mouse or a game controller .

Its performance is somewhat fair on older machines: Steam recommended that I not even enable 720p resolution on my early 2009 MacBook Pro, because it couldn’t guarantee good performance. I tried it and it was usable, although it looks a little rough. I guess that’s different with modern Macs.

To activate the Big Picture mode you must have the Steam beta updates activated , option that we can find in the Steam preferences, inside the tab of our account. Remember that if you don’t have a Mac plugged into your TV, you can always use AirPlay using an Apple TV to achieve the same result, although for that you also need to have a relatively modern computer.
