The Washington Post reported today that Twitter has decided to suspend up to 70 million accounts from May to June , as reported by our ADSLZone colleagues. This is a radical move by the social network to combat Fake News and spam accounts, with the aim of improving the community where we are mostly included.
In just one month Twitter has decided to remove 70 million accounts , a large number of accounts for such a short period of time, so we appreciate the pace they are taking to remove these accounts because it is double if we compare this data with those collected in October.
All these accounts that have been deleted are basically bots and accounts that only do RT to other accounts , which is known as Spam and which bothers all users. In addition to this type of accounts, there are also those that participate in disinformation, that is, that spread false news.
Obviously, by removing accounts the social network ventures to see the volume of users decrease, but seeing the positive side we can talk about the reputation of Twitter will increase , something that will surely like a lot of investors. Despite the fact that 70 million accounts have been deleted, Twitter has stated that it has not affected the number of active users too much.
These actions are very welcome for me, because we can have a better community on Twitter, with much less SPAM accounts and above all accounts that encourage misinformation, a fight that we hope will end up joining other social networks such as Facebook itself which is still a nest for the Fake News.
Leave us in the comment box what you think of these measures and if you think they should be extended to the rest of social networks.
