Tweetbot had been abandoned at OS X for years. The limitations of the tokens made it lose interest in development, and the developers themselves removed it from the App Store for a few days so that could restore the authentication system with Twitter .
Well, to the surprise of many, who were already giving it up completely, a few minutes ago Mark Jardine, the designer of Tapbots has tweeted a photo showing a teaser of the redesign of the OS X version of Tweetbot that is to come. As little as we can venture in the out-of-focus photo, shows a design more in line with the OS X Yosemite interface and less skeumorphic as the one we had until now .
There is some inspiration in the iPhone version of Tweetbot, as well as the use of OS X Yosemite transparencies and round avatars. You can also see a completely new iPhone app of which can’t be said to be much more out of focus, but it could be the redesign of Calcbot .
The one we don’t know about yet is the iPad version, which has also been abandoned for years. The only thing we’ve been told so far is that it’s in development . And it seems that 2015 will be an important year for Tapbots… they themselves say so in their tweet :
