Tweetbot for Mac is updated with support for Vine and Flickr, previous versions will stop working on March 5th

Tapbots has updated Tweetbot for OS X , its flagship application and the ultimate alternative Twitter client. Besides solving a lot of bugs and improving its stability, the program is now able to integrate the animations uploaded through Vine and the photos stored in Flickr; and it also lets us upload videos in MP4 format with every tweet we publish.

The inclusion of Flickr as another compatible service is undoubtedly marked by the drop in popularity of Instagram after it was acquired by Facebook. The photo storage network took advantage of the controversy to launch a new version of its mobile applications, which made it regain some of the loyalty it had a few years ago.

Another interesting new feature is the power to set filters on notifications , so we can configure Tweetbot to not warn us if a certain user mentions us even if the notifications of the mentions are activated. All these updates are adapted to version 1.1 of the Twitter API, a move that will force all Tweetbot users to update to this version before March 5th if they don’t want the application to stop working.

The iOS version of Tweetbot, both iPhone and iPad, has also been updated to include support for 1Password and the alternative browser Chrome . All updates are free, although of course you have to pay the price of the application. Tweetbot can be a bit expensive (especially the OS X version), but there’s no doubt that it’s worth buying if you use Twitter regularly.
