If you follow the releases of other platforms closely, you will have seen how Microsoft has been one of the queens of the IFA that our colleagues from Xataka are covering. Almost all PC manufacturers have joined the latest trend.
This trend is the small revolution that Windows 8 represents, a mixture of tablet and laptop of small dimensions but sufficiently capable of functioning as a single computer. On the Apple platform we do not have anything similar, although we can get something similar with the use of an iPad .
Although the iPad is not a notebook as such, many of its applications and utilities can make it a very capable machine for making modifications and small touches on virtually any format or type of file.
For many of these occasions, having an external keyboard can make the task much simpler and easier. If you like the idea, our colleague Fernando Doutel uses it almost every day, here are five different cases with integrated keyboards so you don’t lose any comfort.
- Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard. This keyboard, which we’ve mentioned a couple of times at Apple and even discussed, is one of the first options you should keep in mind if you’re looking for an accessory like this. Simple, beautiful, well-finished, and very practical. Its price is high and can make us think twice about buying it, but the truth is that I have been lucky enough to try it recently in person and if I had an iPad I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to buy it. The sensitivity of the keyboard is also very good, similar to that of Apple’s keyboards, and it also works very well as a screen protector. In short, if you want to go for it, don’t think twice. By the way, if you’re looking for a more customizable and adaptable design, you can also check out this model from the same company: the Logitech Fold-Up Keyboard.
- Belkin YourType Folio + Keyboard. Another major accessory manufacturer is Belkin. Their choice is a little simpler than Logitech’s but also a lot cheaper (70 euros compared to almost 100 from their competitor). The case also includes a keyboard although the union of keyboard and iPad is much simpler and the case takes over from the original launched by Apple, with a very similar design and style. The keyboard is again quite pleasant to touch, although its finish is somewhat more plastic, although for occasional use it can be more than valid. One of the most interesting parts is that if we don’t need the keyboard at a certain time, we can remove it from the case and use the accessory only as protection for our equipment.
- Targus Versavu Keyboard. If you are looking for a little more design, the Targus case may be more appropriate for you. In this case, the case is finished in leather and features a design that allows you to display the apple of your iPad even when you’re wearing the case, and the dock allows you to rotate your iPad 360 degrees within the case. The accessory is again highly priced, like almost all cases of this style.

Zagg Zaggfolio for iPad. A well known company in the world of iOS accessories is ZAGG, although unfortunately in Europe it is quite complicated to find in stores. This company also has a case of this type where the main difference from the rest is to have a greater variety of designs and colors, so you can customize the case and adapt it to your style. Again the price is repeated and the case is in a range of between 70 and 90 euros depending on the distributor.
- SKINNY Keyboard case for iPad. And if you’re looking for something a little different from the rest of the known companies, you should take a look at this case called Skinny. As its name suggests: its most important feature is that it is really thin. This is achieved with a touch screen keyboard that takes up very little space and makes the case really small. You can buy the case directly from the manufacturers’ website for about 80 euros in exchange.
