Tim Cook openly apologizes for Apple’s new maps in a public letter

Carta pública de Tim Cook

If we compare it with open letters like Steve Jobs’ with Flash this time we are in front of a much shorter text, but it is direct and very unusual as it is a direct letter from the maximum authority of the company.

Tim Cook openly apologizes for Apple’s new maps in a public letter

Here is the letter translated:

Well… it is not the first public letter from an Apple CEO, but I think it is the first one where it is explicitly advised to use the competition’s maps and it is admitted that Apple’s maps still have a long way to go. The company has already shown us that they are making efforts to repair this, so I think we will have to be patient and use other maps while we wait for Apple to improve theirs.

One thing is for sure: Apple’s management does not have to be very happy with those responsible for their new maps. I don’t think Tim will react the same way Steve Jobs did to the MobileMe development team, but I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of the map engineers right now . The letter can be found from a link on the company’s official website.
