That’s how your favorite apps were years ago, in the beginning.
Now you might find them very rudimentary, even primitive. Its interface would now be, visually, a catastrophe for us . But at the time, iOS users thought it was a real wonder.
But however painful the applications may be in their early days, I’m sure this fantastic look back at the past will give our readers an extraordinary glimpse of melancholy and longing. Oh, those were the days, weren’t they?
You may be interested or futuristic. Interestingly, such an evolution suggests that the vast majority of apps on the App Store tend to offer a much simpler, more concise and minimalist look.
But enough talk, let’s get down to what we’re really interested in. Next, we’ll show you what the user interface of the most popular and important apps in the iOS App Store looked like . Some of you may not have seen them like this, but I’m sure many of you will remember it with nostalgia!
The Instagram application has changed a lot since its origins in iOS. Especially after its acquisition by Facebook. Its user interface is now much more modern and minimalist. Both the top and bottom bars were removed, and the black backgrounds became completely white.
It is worth noting the great controversy that arose when Instagram radically changed the style of its logo in 2016. From a retro icon that enchanted everyone, to a curious super-coloured icon that convinced no one. By now, we’re used to it.
The application icons… because that’s another one. Can someone explain to me how we got past this…
Fortunately, much better!
Facebook is another popular iOS application that has undergone a lot of changes. In fact, its developers even separated Facebook into two different apps: social networking and instant messaging. It’s true that the app still has that distinctive blue tone , but many elements, icons, and menus have been stylized since then over the years.
Twitter, like Instagram, completely redesigned the top and bottom bars. Previously they were blue and black, respectively. Now they are completely white to give a much cleaner and minimalist look to the application. However, the application has incorporated a very elegant Night Mode. Finally, a curious fact: did you know that the original Twitter logo was bought for only 15 dollars? The designer must be pulling his hair out!
Interestingly, the WhatsApp Messenger application has not changed that much since its inception in iOS. In fact, even retains that traditional green color of the sender’s messages . Be that as it may, other details of its user interface have changed quite a bit, with much smaller and minimalist icons.
Did you know that YouTube was a native application in the early versions of iOS? That’s right, the app was installed by default, although its icon was a bit… curious, to say the least. Its user interface has changed from very dark menus to a much more visually appealing red and white . In addition, its structure has evolved in an incredible way, improving the intuitiveness and usability of the application. Probably much more than the rest of the apps in this publication.
The original version of Snapchat had very few options, no Bitmojis and no filters. The company left aside the bluish tones of the screen to offer much more fun and worked icons. Taking out some small details, the truth is that we liked the initial version much better, but that’s a matter of taste!
Which version of the apps did you like best? Did you prefer Instagram before Facebook bought it? Which interface improvements to these apps do you find most beneficial?
