Things 3, la app más esperada de todas ya está aquí, y ha merecido la pena esperar cinco años
Things 3 for iOS and macOS arrived in May of this year, and since then it has only added new features. Today, it is one of the most complete platforms for managing our tasks, and with Mail to Things, a whole world of possibilities is opened up . The new feature allows us to send an email that will be automatically transformed into a task in Things.
For a correct organization of work, a primary step is to add the tasks to our organization system . In Things they have this clear, so they put a lot of facilities for this: quick entry button, extension for iOS, add via Siri, 3D Touch on the iPhone … Now comes another way to add tasks, from anywhere and any device that allows you to send a simple email.
If you update your Things app in macOS and iOS, you’ll see that there’s new functionality in the app’s options. In the Things Cloud section we can activate the Mail to Things option, after that a new mail will be generated, like firstname.lastname@example.org. Anything we send to this mail will be sent to our Inbox. The subject of the email will be the task title and the email message will be the task note. It’s that simple and easy.
But the truth is that the potential goes much further . Besides being able to send us tasks ourselves, they can also send us other tasks to do if they have our Things address. On the other hand, the most interesting thing for me is the compatibility with Workflow and other services that it acquires now. Thanks to Mail to Things we can automate tasks that will be generated by sending an email from Workflow, IFTTT or Zapier for example. Three quick examples:
Please note that Things for iPhone, iPad and Mac are available on the App Store and Mac App Store respectively. It is priced differently for each app and does not have a subscription: £10.99, £21.99 and £54.99 respectively.
