Twitter is probably the best social network today to be informed of relevant news. Its conception allows to spread information quickly and reach a large number of people . While until now we were informed by following users and watching the Trending section, now comes a new method. It is called ‘Topics’, which allows you to follow specific topics regardless of whether or not you follow the people who publish about them.

As announced by Twitter and picked up by The Verge, they have begun to deploy this feature in their applications. The topics that Twitter will allow to follow are more than 300 different and the list includes sports, entertainment, politics and more. You can even specify more, such as sports teams or an Apple-like company.

The truth is that the new functionality promises a lot . When we normally follow a person it is because we are interested in a certain topic that he or she publishes, but usually that person also publishes about other topics that may not always be of interest to us. The new ‘Topics’ are a new way to keep informed and above all to discover new content, since they will show us users that we do not follow.

As indicated by Twitter managers, the new ‘Topics’ feature will be available to users from Wednesday 13th November . It’s not entirely clear whether the app will need to be updated or will appear directly in it.

Finally, it is worth noting that from Twitter they have announced the incorporation of more themes in the future in addition to the more than 300 that already exist. It will also be possible to mute specific themes . Finally, they indicate that they may be able to incorporate in the future the option of sending a tweet only to followers who are interested in certain themes.
