The iPhone 7 Home Touch Button Will Not “Click”

This week has been filled with interesting rumors about Apple’s iPhone 7. Recently, it has been speculated that Cupertino’s company has developed a new technology for the Home button that would include Touch ID and 3D Touch functions. A Home button that would also become touch-sensitive and be integrated into the smartphone’s case .

If the rumours are true, we would be looking at a slight but drastic change in the design of the next-gen smartphone, since the “physical” Home button has always been there since the birth of the iPhone in 2007.

The new Home Touch button would work in a similar way to the Force Touch trackpad on the latest Apple MacBooks, the button will not “click” when pressed, nor move , instead will simulate a click by vibration , or at least that’s what the sources indicate based on rumors from vendors.

The new integrated Home button would allow water resistance

We’ve been talking about Apple’s plans to offer a water- and dust-resistant iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for over 6 months. An integrated Home Touch Button in the case would greatly help improve the water resistance of the device , as there would be no gaps between the button and the phone chassis through which water and dust could enter.

What’s more, by developing a static home touch button, Apple would open up the possibility of manufacturing a thinner iPhone than ever before . In fact, this year’s model (colloquially known as iPhone 7) could only be 6 millimeters thick.

As we mentioned previously, the new iPhone 7 Home Touch button would NOT “click”, but would use an existing technology in the MacBook Force Touch trackpad to simulate the sensation of tapping with haptic feedback through small vibrations.

A Home button with Touch ID and 3D Touch?

But best of all, and what has excited our iPadizate team the most, the new Home Button may be able to use Touch ID technology to unlock the device with the fingerprints, and at the same time use 3D Touch features to access such useful shortcuts as opening multitasking applications, rebooting the device, or even closing all the apps.

Additionally, it is interesting to note that the introduction of this Home Force Touch button would make sense of the disappearance of the “Slide to Unlock” functionality in iOS 10 (which can be activated in Settings), since repeated use of the physical Home button can end up damaging your hardware and design.

Finally, from Macotakara they assure that the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will arrive available in 5 colors , will not have a jack for EarPods, and will have a Smart Magnetic Connector to charge the battery. Finally, as you will know beforehand, the Plus model will have a camera with a double lens system.
