The Grand Central Terminal’s Apple Store will officially open its doors on Friday, December 9 , in exactly one week’s time. When it does, that Apple Store will be the largest official Apple store in the world, stealing the place from the Covent Garden Store in London.
The Grand Central Terminal’s Apple Store will be fully integrated with Manhattan’s iconic train station , and from the spy photos that have been seen, it will cover a huge area of the station’s balconies. 750 thousand people pass through that station every day, so the influx of customers is assured. What’s more, Apple pays less than half the rent that the rest of the station’s premises pay for being a hub of people that will revalue all the shops and restaurants around it. To get an idea, imagine that they open a big Apple Store in the middle of Sants station in Barcelona or Atocha station in Madrid.
As this store will be the largest to date, I’m sure many fans will be lining up to be the first to enjoy it. After all, it will be a very peculiar Apple Store and it is expected to generate more than one hundred million dollars in sales annually. Almost nothing. The photographs and videos that will appear on the web during its opening will give us an impression of how Apple has built the best of its stores in the middle of one of the busiest stations on the planet.
