In the midst of the launch of the iPhone 7, the NYT has spoken with various anonymous Apple employees about the release of the next iPhone, the iPhone of Apple’s tenth anniversary, the iPhone 8 .
And it’s true that the news is not new, since the rumor of an iPhone without a Home button has been around for months , but now it makes more sense considering the advance of the Home button on the iPhone 7. For now, the predictions of many analysts have been fulfilled: this year’s iPhone is a continuation of the previous one and important design changes are reserved for 2017.
If these changes in design arrive we may see an iPhone with an OLED screen and which occupies the entire front surface, including the Home button area. With a glass screen occupying the entire screen we would be closer to Jony Ive’s dream: an iPhone with a single glass surface and no other elements.
Let’s remember that the important step apart from the change in design is the introduction of an OLED screen to replace the LCD screen that Apple’s iPhones have right now. OLED technology allows not only to improve colors and get pure black, but also saves on battery power because it directly turns off parts of the screen to get dark tones.
One more possibility being tested is that Apple will introduce a new model of iPhone with curved edges, similar to what Samsung has with the Edge models. Either in a new model, or as a unique feature of the iPhone Plus.
Anyway, are very early rumors and the iPhone 7 has not even reached the market , so we’ll have to wait at least a few months to see some more accurate leaks. The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are managing to exceed all of Apple’s expectations for now and have an impressive demand, will the next iPhone achieve the same with an even more drastic change?
