The integration of Siri in Messages is becoming increasingly evident, as demonstrated by a new patent

A new patent published by Apple yesterday shows what could be the future of Siri: integration into the Messages app to make it one more person to talk to. In addition, she would be able to enter groups of people and interact with them. This is something very similar to what Google has with Google Assistant in Allo.

The possibilities shown by the patent are very varied. For example, Siri would be able to have a conversation with us . Currently it does so too, but Siri’s screen disappears when we stop interacting with it. In this case, it would remain in a message conversation. We could, for example, ask her to set up a meeting, make a reservation at a restaurant, or order a meal from her.

But the possibilities go further, because as we see in the patent, we can integrate Siri in a group conversation within Messages,. In this way, Siri could organize the appointments, choose a movie to watch all of them, reserve or buy tickets…

This is something very similar to what we saw a few months ago. Apple already had a similar idea in November , and if they keep betting on it by means of another patent, it’s probably because they see a future in it.

Could this be the big news at this year’s WWDC ? Apple has little more to evolve in Siri as a voice assistant, but there is a long way to go as an assistant that works through a screen. In this sense, if Apple finally launches a competitor for Amazon Echo, having a vitaminised Siri on screen would be a real step forward, because if there is something wrong with Alexa right now it is not being available on screens as such, but working almost entirely by voice.
