The icon of a frameless iPad appears in the iOS 12 source code, in case there were still doubts

However, we haven’t seen anything as clear and straightforward as this yet. Among the resources of iOS 12 beta 5 has appeared an icon of the iPad in which we have no Home button . The frameless iPad is just around the corner.

As indicated by 9to5mac, the icon is part of the ‘Battery Usage’ interface in Settings. On the other hand, the iOS 12 code has also revealed that we will have Face ID on this new iPad. It couldn’t be clearer.

If we look at the icon used by Apple for iPhone X, the notch is clearly differentiated. However, in this iPad icon there is no notch , all the frames have the same thickness. This indicates that Apple has either managed to reduce the TrueDepth camera system a little more, or there is enough frame on the iPad to keep it in place.

So, don’t expect notch on the iPad, it seems that will be a completely rectangular screen with rounded corners , as before. What continues to generate doubts in me is how we will differentiate the correct position of the iPad. No notch, no button and with the screen visually turned off is going to be complicated. Most likely, Apple will give more freedom to the screen rotation and will be indifferent if you take it upside down (until you use the camera).

And when will this new frameless iPad with a Home button arrive? Everything points to September, along with the new iPhone . The date that rings most loudly if we look at previous years is September 12th. On this day, Apple can celebrate its classic annual keynote where we will see all the new products they have worked on in recent years.
