We won’t get rid of the notch at the moment, but maybe the elements inside will be better concealed in the next generations of the iPhone. Currently if we look closely we can see the lens of the front camera, a special coating would make us see absolutely nothing .

According to Taiwanese media, Apple’s supplier of the camera lenses, Largan Precision, is developing a special black coating to cover the camera . They claim that by 2020 it could start to be applied on phone cameras. This would make the surface completely black and not show that there is a camera there. Of course, the camera would still be able to capture light equally well.

Apple’s chief designer has always had in mind to achieve an iPhone that resembles a glass plate without buttons or anything that interferes with the user’s vision, such as a camera. So far the closest we’ve come to that is the design of the iPhone X, which eliminates the front button and almost completely eliminates the frames.

The notch however is still there and will remain there for a few years. Why? Because at the moment there is no way to integrate the camera into the screen itself. What we might soon see is a more hidden notch, which only leaves a completely black surface at the top and does not allow us to see the camera and the sensors underneath it.
