The Next Web
Since the beginning of August, the world’s most iconic Apple Store was covered with a glass cube shaped entrance. Three months later the store on New York’s Fifth Avenue is sporting a new, much simpler cube , which looks much sharper than the original.
The key to achieving this has been to create much larger crystals to go from having one cube composed of 90 pieces to having another composed of only fifteen . From the photograph that comes from The Next Web, these new glass pieces are simply enormous, a sample of what Apple has learned from continuously manufacturing glass for its stores around the world and surely an appetizer for what we will see with the circular building of the new Apple Campus (whose external walls will be made up of huge pieces of curved glass).
The Apple Store has closed momentarily in order to present the new cube properly, but the store will remain as usual open 24 hours a day . An exceptional measure, but not surprising when you know that the store is the fifth most photographed place in the whole Big Apple and a tourist hotspot in the area.
