Good news. Those who want to use the electrocardiogram of the new Apple Watch Series 4 outside the USA (also known as ECG or EKG), will be able to do so as soon as Apple activates this function. To do so, simply change the region of the iPhone to which it is linked.
In the past, the change of region on an iPhone has enabled the activation of certain services restricted to certain countries or areas. This is the case with Apple News, which is currently limited to the USA, Australia and Great Britain. Now, thanks to 9to5Mac, we know that this trick can also be used to activate the Apple Watch Series 4 electrocardiogram.
To do so, just follow these steps:
- On your iPhone, go to Settings , Language and Region.
- In the Region option, we will have to change it to the USA.
Let’s be clear: the function of the EKG in the Apple Watch Series 4 is not yet available. You will have to wait for a software update to be able to use this trick and activate it outside the USA. As long as Apple does not change it and keeps the method they have detected since 9to5Mac.
In AppleApple Watch Series 4, analysis: The competition goes up
The ECG of the Apple Watch requires approval by the competent health authorities prior to release. The corresponding federal agency recently approved its use in the USA. In the case of Spain, we are fortunate that it will be approved at the European level instead of by member state, greatly accelerating the process.
