The Apple Pencil can currently only be used with the iPad Pro, both 12.9 and 9.7 inches. However, a new patent registered by the US company suggests that future generations of the stylus could be compatible with the trackpad of Mac computers .
Since the Apple Pencil went on sale, many people have started talking about the possibility of it being compatible with the trackpad, the standalone accessory for Mac desktops. However, this was not the case and for now only supports the two iPad Pro models , something that could change in the not too distant future.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has recently issued several patents to Apple. Among those 32 patents is one related to the Apple Pencil that shows new functions and uses for it.
According to the patent description, the Apple Pencil could be used with future versions of the Mac trackpad . Among other things, the Apple Pencil could be used to control applications with gestures in the air, control slides on Keynote or even use it as a kind of joystick.
On the other hand, the Apple Pencil could be attached to the Mac trackpad to become a kind of graphics tablet to use for photo retouching or drawing . The truth is that it could be used quite well with the Mac trackpad, so we hope that this patent will not be kept in a drawer and will soon become a reality.
Would you like the Apple Pencil to have trackpad support? If so, would you buy it? Leave your opinion in the comments!
