Every year the team responsible for reviewing the App Store takes a few days off for Christmas and that’s why the Apple App Store closes for a week. This year Apple has announced that between December 23rd and 27th the app review team will be on holiday , so no updates or new apps will be released.
The shop will be in a “stand-by” status , as we as users will be able to download applications or make any kind of purchase. The only thing we’ll have to support is that no new applications will be added to the App Store, nor will there be any updates or changes to the price of any app.
In order to prevent developers from running into this surprise from Apple, they are giving everyone plenty of notice via their website, so that if they plan to release any major updates they do so before December 23rd. In particular the note says the following:
The App Store holiday season is almost here. Make sure your apps are up to date and ready for the holidays. New apps and updates will not be accepted between December 23 and December 27 (Pacific Time), so the submission must be submitted, reviewed, and scheduled in advance. All other features of the App Store for developers will continue to be available without problem.
If you are a developer, prepare all your application updates for approval before December 23rd, otherwise you will have to wait until the end of the year. These updates are quite necessary to incorporate all the new features related to Christmas such as a temporary design change or other new features for the season.
