App Analytics, la nueva herramienta de estadísticas empieza a llegar a los desarrolladores
Until now, the App Store’s featured game lists were generated by the store’s own algorithms based on its metrics. That saves work in Cupertino’s offices, but leaves those lists open to possible manipulation by the developers. Appearing on those lists easily translates into an exponential increase in revenue.
This has changed: now in the App Store we can see how some automated lists have disappeared and have been replaced by lists of games created by people . There is no longer “new” or “featured”, but “the best new games” or “more games you might like”. The latter list also changes depending on the applications you have downloaded.
This change has already caused downloads of certain applications to drop by 30 to 90%
For the user, it means that we will have lists of higher quality since the applications that are on them have been chosen by hand and taking into account things that no algorithm can distinguish. For the honest developer this is also good news as if an application is on those lists it means that somehow or other they deserve it .
For who is bad news is for all games that apply the picaresque to generate income. Clones, icons and names that try to confuse the customer or the minor with purchases… we have already seen how the downloads of some applications have dropped from 30 to 90% due to the change and that is a sign that the measure works. And with a store that already has over 1.4 million applications, these things are to be welcomed.
