ChangeWave, a company that usually researches market trends based on user surveys, has unveiled its latest results. You have them in the graph above, and as you can see iOS is advancing as the users’ favourite platform throughout this year, touching Android in some points of 2010.
In fact, iOS has been on the rise since the beginning of the year, with 46% of respondents naming it as their favourite . Android follows closely behind at 32%, with BlackBerry staying at the bottom at 4%. iOS has had higher points, reaching 50% on key dates such as the launch of iPhone 4. This year the iPad 2 will have given the tug, but even before the launch of iOS it was on the rise. Hopefully with the launch of a new device (either an iPhone or an iPad), Apple’s mobile system percentage will improve. In fact, surveys indicate that 13% of those surveyed have never owned an Apple product and plan to buy it with the arrival of iCloud.
The only questionable thing about this test is that it is based on 4163 surveys (11% of them outside the United States), a somewhat small number to represent the entire mobile market. Even so, the graph perfectly reflects users’ reactions to major iPhone or iPad launches , or the impressive growth Android has had since late 2009.
