With the rumors we’ve been receiving these last weeks and without any officially announced event (although it seems we’ll have new laptops soon), the information is accumulating giving the impression that since Cupertino they have more and more duties. The last thing we have received is from the possibility of a new device, something between an iPad and an iPod touch .
This device is a real unknown, especially since Apple has already stated that mid-size tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab “do not offer the full tablet experience”. But what if what Apple wanted wasn’t exactly that? It is suggested that a larger iPod touch could boost the huge market for games that has been born with the App Store, while offering a competitor for the rest of the handheld consoles such as the new Sony NGP or the Nintendo 3DS that is so popular.
By focusing a larger iPod touch on the video, music and game market, Apple could simply launch its own video game console for a young audience . The iPad would still be more oriented towards replacing a Mac in its most basic uses, and in being a good tool for many businesses, which it is already demonstrating with its acceptance by many important companies.
Apple would have to explain for presenting something that it did not agree with at first, but we are already used to this kind of rectifications . I still don’t remember that day when Jobs claimed that the video on an iPod was something useless…
