Siri shortcuts arrived on the iPhone and iPad with iOS 12. With this feature, apps that implement it can configure common actions to be activated directly with voice commands on Siri. Waze, since its last version, already implements them. Now it is easier than ever to start a route to home, work or wherever you want .
Waze is one of the most popular apps among drivers , unlike Google Maps or Apple Maps, it shows more traffic information such as incidents on the road or checkpoints. It can also show us the least congested routes according to the traffic in real time, although this may be the misfortune for some. In any case, it’s certainly a very good option for those who take regular routes by car.

With iOS 12 on the iPhone or iPad and with Waze version 4.48 or higher installed, we can start using the Siri shortcuts in the app . To do this, we only need to configure them the first time and then use them directly with voice commands in Siri. Make sure you have your work and home addresses defined in Waze, then follow these steps:
- Open Settings, go to Siri and Search, and scroll down to find Waze.
- Click on Shortcuts and you will see a list of the configured, suggested and recently used ones.
- Click on the + icon to set the route home, for example.
- Record the phrase you want to use to activate that shortcut, for example “Start the journey home”.
That’s it, from now on you just have to invoke Siri to tell her “start the route to go home” and Waze will automatically open with the route started to go home. Similarly, you can set up shortcuts to get to work or to turn sounds on or off while driving.
