ShipIt! resizes images in OS X using predefined settings

ShipIt! ( gratis temporalmente, Mac App Store )

is one of those applications that I love to find on the Mac App Store. It’s a little utility that will resize any image ( or images ) that we drag onto its icon, to a specific path on the hard drive. You don’t even need to have the application window open ( just minimized or hidden ) to drag images over it, and instantly we have the converted images in the chosen path.

This application was originally born out of its creator’s need to resize the images in his iOS applications to the size of the Retina Display, or vice versa. It used to be a tedious manual job and he thought he needed a simple and fast program to do it for him, so he developed this ShipIt! . The application not only allows resizing to one size, but we can choose from various output settings to have our images converted to the selected ones, and add new ones.

The interface is very simple as you see in the screenshot, and you can even choose the format of the destination if you need a specific one. The application is totally free during this week and I liked a detail in the text of its icon: ” Artists Ship “. Discreet tribute to Jobs by playing with one of his most famous phrases.
