We are two days away from the first anniversary of the iPad, what was to be the “bluff” of the year has not turned out so well in the end and no one from the competition seems to have started to stand up to it. Yes, HP introduced its Slate, and Samsung introduced its Galaxy Tab , but the Koreans recognize that the sales of the device are not being as good as they expected . In September, there was already talk of lowering the production of the device, since its timid sales (600,000 units) were not as good as expected.

At the end of the quarter, sales were around two million units. And let’s not forget that this tablet, the flagship of tablets with Android, will become obsolete this week with the official launch of Android Honeycomb . And now, a year later it seems that we can start to see interesting things in the field of tablets and real alternatives to the iPad.

Will we see a real defeat of the Apple device? Maybe if as a whole, in the total number of tablets sold, but surely it will happen as with the iPhone, there will be more Android terminals on the market, but Apple will be the manufacturer that sells more terminals. Remember that something that was criticized Apple was that it was taking out a device too expensive and the 800 euros of the next Motorola Xoom does not seem to support this argument. The truth is that no one predicted the sales that the iPad has had (and is having), we’ll see if the next Android oriented to this type of devices starts to be a real answer from Apple’s competition. So far the disappointment is being taken away by them.
