In technology, nostalgia is a sometimes powerful weapon. If a few weeks ago we saw a developer showing an app that imitated the iPod, now another has managed to put his in the App Store. Rewound is an iPhone music player that keeps inside the possibility of customizing its buttons. And of course, that customization is designed to mimic the iPod.
This app is a very basic music player. Its main attraction is that we have the possibility to customize it through skins . This means that the appearance of the app can be modified depending on the “layer” we choose. The app doesn’t have any skins by default, since The Verge have been able to talk to the developer and indicate that thanks to this Rewound has been able to be approved in the App Store.
Louis Anslow is responsible for this app, whose main purpose is to be able to imitate the iPod interface. In order to download that look, you need to have downloaded a picture of the iPod wheel to be able to upload it to the app. In our tests, we used the integrated option to search for the iPod interface on Twitter and install it.
The effect is very successful. The player controls work perfectly with the downloaded skin . We’ll even get haptic sensor response when we scroll through the wheel. The final effect is quite curious and brings back many memories to those of us who had some of the iPod models.

Rewound is an app that you can already download, unlike the one we saw a few weeks ago. It’s free to download, but has built-in purchases to unlock the lists. At the moment it’s compatible with Apple Music only, but the developer assures that in the future it will have support for Spotify.
