The use of the iPhone X would be generating different problems to the health of a small group of users as they have been reporting in a Reddit forum thread because of a software problem. Among these health problems are headaches and eye fatigue after viewing the screen of this device.

These problems lie in the PWM which is the modulation of the pulse width of the screens , which is different in the different devices that besides the screens of the mobiles are also present in monitors or televisions.

The image we are seeing on our device is constantly refreshing but we don’t appreciate the flicker as the interval is set to avoid this phenomenon. This may be beneficial for us and is causing health problems for some users. To give you an idea, in the following videos we can appreciate the screen refresh on iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

The first one is for iPhone X where if you see the screen refresh, and in the iPhone 8 that we see in the second video you don’t see any screen refresh.

The fact that the refreshing of the image on Apple’s flagship can be appreciated by the most sensitive users can have consequences such as those described in Reddit’s forum: headaches and eye fatigue. Users are already asking Apple to give the option to disable PWM in the accessibility options so that these people can use the device normally.

Have you experienced these problems?
