Few products have had such a linear line of rumours: first it’s out, then it’s denied, then it’s out again, then it’s insisted on… and today The Guardian makes us take it more seriously by not only stating that Microsoft Office for iPad will be a reality , but also that it will be just on . The applications would compete directly with Apple’s iWork package and iCloud service.
Apparently the Redmond programmers have already finished the development of Office for iOS, and it is now under review by the usability officers to achieve the best possible user experience. As mentioned before, the application uses the interface style Metro characteristic of Windows Phone and the upcoming Windows 8.
In fact, Windows 8 is scheduled to be released around October, so Microsoft could take over all users’ attention for a few days in the fall. There is also a hypothetical version of Office for Android in preparation. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft has done to try to take users away from the cloud and Apple’s office applications.
