Pegatron is, along with Foxconn, one of the manufacturers of many of Apple’s products, especially the iPhone, and it seems that this will continue to be the case as, according to the latest reports, Pegatron will begin initial production of the iPhone 6 at its new plant in Kunshan in the second quarter of this year, with the plant expected to reach full production in the third quarter.
Pegatron is reportedly setting up a new factory space in and starting the recruitment and training of workers to meet the orders for the new iPhone. In early January, talk began of this possibility, with the expectation that Pegatron would win a new contract to manufacture the iPhone 6, as it finally seems to have done and will share with Foxconn and probably Hon Hai the manufacture of the iPhone 6 , although it is not known what percentage each company comprises.
As Apple has sought to diversify its supply chain, Pegatron has been strengthening its position as Apple’s supplier , expanding in 2013 its responsibilities with models such as the iPhone 5c or the iPad mini, thus trying to expand its supply chain and minimize the risk of potential problems with some of its producers. However, it is curious how all the iPhone 5s have been manufactured exclusively by Foxconn, which remains on the first step as a reference manufacturer for Apple.
If we follow this news, setting the start of production in the second quarter, and gradually reaching its maximum production in the third quarter, its launch will be, as usual, between September and October this year . What we cannot extract from this news is neither the units that Pegatron would manufacture nor the volume of contracts that it is carrying out, something that could give us an idea of the production.
