The Oculus Rift seems to be a revolution in the world of video games . Expectations for these virtual reality glasses are enormous and although their development has been delayed due to the difficulty of creating a truly good product, which is what Facebook was aiming for when it acquired the company, it seems that by the beginning of 2016 we will have the first Oculus available on the market.
Today, following a post by Atman Binstock , technical manager of the Oculus Rift, on the company’s blog, we learned more about the Oculus and where the shots are going with respect to their development , and received some not-so-encouraging news for all those who use OS X as their computer operating system exclusively .
It seems that, given the small number of people who would be interested in using the Oculus from an OS X computer, together with the fact that it will be necessary, as Binstock also made clear in his entry on the company’s blog, a computer with a fairly high power , power that is not found in many of the Macs on the market, except in some of the more expensive models, the development of virtual reality glasses for the Apple operating system will be stopped , and in the short and medium term, we will not have Oculus for OS X .
Oculus’ plans are to focus on Windows and on experience in this operating system . The development of Oculus for OS X has not stopped definitively and without remedy, but the plan would be to continue developing the product later, although it is not clear that this will happen, since as we said, does not seem very profitable given the small number of Macs that will be able to support it and the small number of Mac owners that would be interested in this product.
In conclusion, if we have a Mac today and we want to try out the Oculus Rift, in addition to needing it to be powerful enough, we will have to proceed to install Windows as a secondary operating system on our computer. Without a doubt, this is bad news for Apple lovers and at the same time, the latest trends in the world of video games .
