No major upgrade to MacBook Pro until 2019, DigiTimes warns

Face ID podría ser capaz de mucho más en un Mac, según una patente de los responsables de PrimeSense

Be careful not to get too excited about the Face ID Macs rumors, because the Asian media DigiTimes has published indications that it won’t be for long. MacBook Pro won’t be getting any major updates this year , according to those indications. We’ll have to wait until 2019 for that.

The rumor is based on the fact that Apple is moving the production of those MacBook Pro from Quanta to Foxconn . This gesture would make the production of those laptops cheaper and less risky. The move prevents Apple from releasing updates because of all the work after the move.

That move will not be total , since Apple always likes to have more than one supplier in case of flies. Foxconn is simply going to keep a large part of the production of the MacBook Pro. The source assures that there will be availability of these computers at all times without delay in the shipments.

And remember, we’re talking about important updates. One thing we could (and I think we should) see this year is an update to the internal specifications , so that MacBook Pro doesn’t lose steam to other high performance laptops from the competition. When? Personally I don’t dare to predict dates, considering what happened in Intel processors.
