How to download everything Apple knows about us?
Following the Facebook scandal with Cambridge Analytics, all companies have made efforts to improve the privacy of their users and above all to adapt to the new European regulation that seeks to give better protection to user data . Today Apple has opened a new portal dedicated to privacy in European countries to adapt to this regulation, giving us a series of very interesting tools such as downloading a file with everything that is stored on Cupertino’s servers about us , something that Facebook did a few weeks ago.
The most interesting thing that this page offers is the amount of tools to control all our information and even suspend our Apple ID account. To access these tools simply go to privacy.apple.com and log in with your Apple ID.
When you enter this web address you will simply have to enter your ID and password and you will access a data management section, the same that you can see in the image above this paragraph.
To get a copy of your data we simply have to hit the first option in “Start”, after reading obviously the description of what we are going to do. When we access we’ll see how gives us the possibility to select which data we want to download, differentiating between the files that can take more space like photos, emails or iCloud files and on the other hand we have the information that takes less space like our locations, contacts, App Store activity…
You can select which information you want to download. After you have decided, simply click on Continue to proceed to the next step, which is very interesting. We are asked to choose the preferred file size with a minimum of 1 GB and a maximum of 25 GB, in order to be able to split the information up to that weight.
When you press “Complete Request” you will be informed that the information is already being processed and that we will receive the data for downloading by email. Obviously you should be aware that this information will not always be available for download, and you will have to request to download it again in the future. The process itself can take up to 7 days depending on the information you have stored.

Of the other options offered by Apple , we would like to highlight the possibility of deactivating our account to prevent it from being used on any service or even of permanently deleting it with all the information stored, which is undoubtedly very interesting and we hope that it will end up reaching all the countries of the world in the coming months.
