Since the announcement of iOS 8 last year, one of the new features that attracted most attention was the integration of the platform for measuring physical activity and health , HealthKit, which, by the way, we recently saw as giving good results, even at the level of any quantifier.

Many developers have integrated HealthKit support into their applications, where one of the missing ones was Nike, but the day has come and they have decided to update their Nike+ FuelBand application, which with this new integration will no longer need the FuelBand bracelet, so now changes its name to Nike+ Fuel .

Now with this integration to the Apple health platform we will be able to monitor our activity directly from our iPhone , without the need to use or acquire the Nike wristband, all this through the M7 motion co-processors on the iPhone 5s and the M8 on the iPhone 6. But if we have a previous device here if we need the wristband.

The integration with HealthKit will allow us to keep track and record our physical activity through the “fuel” we get in the Nike app, a kind of measure that will remind us from time to time to move and exercise as a way of motivation. With this HealthKit will show us through graphics and statistics our performance over time.

But also the integration will not only be with the Apple platform, as it also adds support for third party applications such as Withings, IFTTT, as well as the company’s applications such as Nike+ Training Club and Nike+ Running.

Finally, and following with this idea of motivation, Nike+ Fuel now integrates Sports Feed , a kind of social network where we can add our friends and compete for the highest amount of Fuel Points, as well as show off our achievements, motivate other friends and share all this in our social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Nike+ Fuel version 2.4 is already available for free in the App Store and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch from iOS 7.1, but if we want to use the integration with HealthKit we will necessarily need iOS 8.0.2.
