Adobe is sticking to Apple’s ways and is surprising us today with a number of updates: Photoshop CS3 10.0.1, Bridge CS3 2.1.1, Lightroom 1.3, Camera RAW 4.3 and DNG Converter 4.3 .
The Photoshop 10.0.1 update resolves the printing issues found by many users (especially on Windows) and includes improved XMP metadata support for preservation through Save for Web with a new option in its dialog box. Unfortunately it keeps the most annoying error that I’m suffering myself, the one of not being able to modify the values of different tools under Leopard , although Apple and Adobe are working together to solve it with a separate update.
In the case of Bridge 2.1.1 a new preference has been added to enable the high quality preview in the advanced preferences panel, which solves the problem with blurred previews.
In addition, updates to Adobe les’ RAW applications add support for several new digital camera models :
- RAW of the Canon PowerShot G9, and (at last) RAW and sRAW of the EOS 1Ds Mark III, 1Ds Mark III and 40D.
- Nikon D3 and D300.
- Olympus E-3 and SP-560 UZ.
- Panasonic DMC-L10.
Apart from this, Lightroom version 1.3 improves Leopard compatibility and fixes a few bugs, but the really interesting thing about this release is the preview of the Lightroom Export SDK , the development kit released by Adobe Labs that will make it easier to find new plugins to extend the program’s export capabilities.
