The Smart Battery Case that Apple released with iPhone 6 may have gone a little unnoticed. Its more abrupt way of holding the battery in the back of the case made it not the initial choice of customers, and there were alternatives from mophie and other more attractive third-party brands. However, it seems that Apple has prepared a new version for this year’s iPhone .
As 9to5mac has found out, Apple has prepared a new Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. This new case maintains the idea of the original (a battery attached to the back in a rectangular shape) but changes slightly. As we can see in the image, it is wider and occupies the entire width of the back, also reaches the bottom of the case.
A total of three models of covers have been found: A2070, A2071 and A2171. That is why they are supposed to refer to the three iPhones and their sizes: 5.8 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.5 inches . Therefore in principle it would also work for the iPhone X and supposedly for future iPhones if sizes and shapes are maintained. The funny thing is that there is a case for the big models, in the previous generation of the case we only had for the small models.
At AppleWhy is the Smart Battery Case so ‘smart’?
Sooner or later we will have to officially see the arrival of this new iPhone case. In principle could appear in the Apple Store these weeks . The case for the iPhone 6 arrived in December 2015, so it wouldn’t be strange if Apple launches it now in December to take advantage of the Christmas campaign.
But without a doubt what is most intriguing about this external battery case is whether it has some of the advantages that have adapted the iPhone in recent years: fast charging and wireless charging . In my case with the arrival of the wireless charge to the iPhone, the Lightning cable has fallen into oblivion inside a drawer. We’ll see if this new case can also use the wireless charger for charging.
