New photos show a mysterious iPad mini without LED flash and a redesigned antenna

Many of us thought the iPad mini was dead looking at the size of the iPhone XS Max and the months that have passed since Apple last updated it, but during the last few weeks we’ve been hearing leaks that suggest we might see a new model of the tablet very soon. And the pictures that have appeared on Twitter recently prove it.

As you can see in the image above and in the rest of the pictures of the tweet, this iPad mini is very similar to the model that is currently sold but with some differences. Externally it doesn’t have an LED flash , and the 4G LTE data antenna inside has a new design. Some say that the color of that tablet is also a new shade of the current gold.

Other features of the iPad mini don’t seem to have changed: we still have a 3.5mm headphone jack (not like the new iPad Pro which no longer has one), the same speaker system and, as they say in 9to5Mac, it will surely still have a Lightning port instead of a USB-C.

Also note that these photos may simply be those of a prototype , a trial that Apple made some time ago to update its smaller tablet that in the end did not succeed. And if it’s something that’s in a drawer right now, then that iPad won’t see the light of day. Not with this look at least.
