Less than an hour before the final release of iOS 10, Apple has just released a small (but great) update of iTunes , its music player for macOS. This new update is available for users of a Mac with OS X El Capitan or MacOS Sierra, and brings among other things the redesign of Apple Music (similar to iOS) and support for the expected iOS 10.

The update also brings specific features for Sierra MacOS users , such as Siri integration or Picture-in-Picture support that allows us to watch a video while we are doing other activities on the computer.

iTunes 12.5.1 can be downloaded now from the Mac App Store for free . Just go to the Updates tab and start downloading the update. Apple Music’s redesign comes at an opportune time to go hand-in-hand with iOS 10 to deliver a unified user experience. In addition, iOS 10 support will allow users to manually upgrade to the latest iOS version via their computer.

In part we are surprised by this update since iTunes should be updated along with the release of MacOS Sierra next September 20th. We’ll see if Apple adds any more new features by then or iTunes will stay in version 12.5.1 within a week too.
