Movistar has just sent us a press release revealing its plans with the iPad 2 3G in Spain : the operator is once again launching special rates for this device just in time for its arrival in our country and for all of you in the queues with the idea of buying an iPad 2 with 3G.
As we have already seen with the first iPad, anyone with an iPhone data rate of 25 or 39 euros per month can simply apply for a duplicate MicroSIM card from that contract without having to take out any additional prepaid plans . Those who have the basic contract of 15 euros per month can always upgrade to one of the two contracts mentioned above in order to enjoy this.
For customers who do not have any contracted data plan, there is a plan for 15 euros per month to be able to download up to 200 MB, another plan for 25 euros to be able to download 1 GB of data and a third plan for 39 euros per month with which we can download up to 5 GB of data. Once these limits are reached, the connection speed decreases .
For those of us who don’t want to have to pay a monthly fee, Movistar offers a rate in which we pay 3 euros a day to be able to download 30 MB of data . If we do not connect one day, we do not pay. And if we need additional data, we can pay a monthly bonus of 1 GB for 49 euros.
At the moment Movistar has not changed its data plans much. It remains to be seen if other companies offering MicroSIM cards for the iPad (Vodafone, Orange, Simyo) will now change their offers with the arrival of the iPad 2.
