Many people are still looking for the perfect editor and none of them are convinced, so new applications keep appearing all the time. One of them is Mou, a web editor that focuses on writing using Markdown .

Mou divides its simple interface into two practically equal areas: one on the left to write the code and another where the same text is rendered in real time so that we can see the result without any problems. And if we need to see the pure HTML code of what we have written, a CMD+ALT+C will copy it to the clipboard automatically. It is also capable of writing in oriental vertical text, using the full screen of OS X Lion and loading several colored themes for the font.

At the moment Mou is in the testing phase and you can download version 0.7 for free, although the final version will have an unspecified price. But if we like the application and decide to give a donation to the developers, we will be entitled to a license for version 1.0 as soon as it appears publicly. And after writing this article using Mou, I must say that it is not bad at all.

If you’re interested in trying out more publishers who use the Markdown style, you can always try the powerful TextMate or the very careful iA Writer.
