Mega Man X
In this case it is ‘ Mega Man X’, the title that Capcom created for Super Nintendo , the one that now arrives to the iPhone.
The game improves on its original graphic appearance although Capcom is getting a lot of fan mail for this). The controls have been adapted to the touch screen in the most conservative way possible (virtual joystick and two shoot-and-jump buttons), although it’s also true that they have been adjusted in a very agile way (not like other ports) and are able to support the whole game without problems or too many frustrations.
Capcom has introduced a purchase option for the Mega Man upgrades from within the game itself, something that takes the fun out of going through levels to unlock weapons and armor. And the main problem of this port is its transition screens, which cut the game in an inexplicable way from time to time.
In spite of everything, ‘Mega Man X’ allows itself to be played and maintains the essence that made the original so much fun. The final price, 3.99 euros, may not compensate for the newcomers, although the fans are hard to resist.
