The current technological panorama has opened a crack in the video game market. Thanks to this opportunity, we see companies like Google unveiling its gaming platform by streaming , called Stadia . Our Vidaextra partners have all the details regarding price, games and availability, so we can start analyzing your proposal further. In particular, it is worth looking more closely at the differences and similarities between Google Stadia and Apple Arcade.
Google Stadia: this is what it offers
Stadia is the video game service via streaming that the search engine company has announced. The player will need a constant internet connection to access the games and therefore the experience will depend on their quality. According to Google, it will be possible to play from any device with an internet connection, whether it is a cell phone, tablet, computer or television. This includes the Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and probably Apple TV.

The company claims that in the future it aims to make it even possible to play through its Chrome browser . As for the controller, Google has created its own which can be seen below:
However, it is not limited to this controller but other peripherals will also be compatible (meaning mouse, keyboard and controllers like PS4 or Xbox). The service will have two variants and in both you will have to buy the games to play them:
- Stadia Pro: for a cost of 9.99 euros per month, you can play in 4K resolution at 60fps, with 5.1 sound and you will also receive discounts and free games.
- Stadia Base: free, Full HD games at 60fps and stereo sound, no discounts or free games.
Initially, Google Stadia will offer 30 games , including Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Baldur’s Gate 3, Borderlands 3 and Final Fantasy XV. The service will start with its premium version in November in 14 countries, including Spain.
The main attraction of this system is that you will be able to play on devices that are not prepared for this level of demand, although with a minimum of hardware still to be known. The muscle is located in the Google cloud , which is transmitted to the device and on which we will depend completely on the quality of the connection at all times.
Apple Arcade and Google Stadia, as different as the companies themselves
This fall it will be very busy in the front of the games . Both Google Stadia and Apple Arcade are going to debut and players will be able to enjoy both proposals. Looking at Google’s and comparing it with Apple’s, it is inevitable to see how different they are from each other. And that serves us to see once again the philosophies so different between both companies.

While Google moves all the effort to the cloud, Apple advocates games that can be downloaded and played on the devices themselves by taking advantage of the power of its chips. Google bets on being multiplatform, while Apple focuses on its devices. AAA quality games of niche versus those of mass mobile devices.

Stadia’s appeal lies in being able to play graphics-intensive games with a low-powered device and a good Internet connection. The Arcade is to access a catalog of about 100 offline games (similar to what offers the Nintendo Switch without having its franchises), with possible online game and that are rotating over time.
That said, they are not services that compete head-to-head. But they do fight for a piece of our daily entertainment . In the fall we should have more details about both, best of all, Apple users will be able to choose one of them (or both).
