January is ending in the best possible way, as we are in a transition of upgrades of all our equipment. After releasing the corresponding iOS 13.3.1 and iPadOS 13.3.1 updates, Apple has also released new software versions for our Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. In particular, macOS 10.15.3, tvOS 13.3.1 and watchOS 6.1.2 are now available for download and installation and we’ll tell you what’s new.
New from macOS 10.15.3
One month after the release of macOS 10.15.2, Apple has updated its Macs in Catalina again after a beta period that has been shorter than usual probably due to the presence of parties in the middle. The truth is that the betas of macOS 10.15.3 have given us interesting data such as the addition of a ‘Pro Mode’ that would come in the future to the Mac. We hope it will end up being confirmed in this final version and its insides.
On another note, in addition to this small inquiry into the code of macOS 10.15.3, there are also new features that we can already enjoy with this latest update. The following are specified in the update notes:
- Optimizes Pro Display XDR’s gray range control for SDR workflows when using macOS.
- Improves performance of multi-stream video editing for HEVC and H.264-encoded 4K video on the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019)
In addition to these improvements, improvements in the safety and stability of the equipment have also been included with this update. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to System Preferences>Software Upgrade .
watchOS 6.1.2 arrives to fix system bugs
As we said, Apple has released a wide range of updates, including our Apple Watch. From the company they have released the final version of watchOS 6.1.1 which comes quite short. There are no new features specified in the update notes , but there is important work to be done in terms of security and system stability. The notes themselves detail that this update ‘provides important security updates and is recommended for all users’ .
To install this update you simply need to have the Apple Watch with a 50% minimum charge and obviously connected to the charger. The update is done from the ‘Watch’ application of the linked iPhone but we can also do it from the clock itself in its settings.
Apple TV and HomePod also upgraded
Without a doubt Apple has wanted to start the year by updating all of its computers globally, including of course the Apple TV which has received tvOS 13.3.1 and the HomePod with its version 13.3.1. In the update notes detailed by Apple in tvOS 13.3.1 no noteworthy new features are included so we assume that they are limited to improvements in security and stability. To perform this update we simply go to System> Software Update. Please note that this update is also useful if you have a refurbished Apple TV.
As far as the HomePod is concerned, the only new feature that is of interest to us is that it only includes the s oporte with the English Indian voices in the voice recognition. We still hope that this function will reach our language as it will certainly give much more meaning to having this speaker at home and that it can be used by all members.
And you, have you already updated your equipment? Leave us your first impressions in the comment box.
