Mac sound will improve by making it immersive

Apple wants to improve the sound quality in all its products, and the next candidate for improvement is the MacBook Pro. This is what has been revealed in a recent Apple patent showing an audi track processing system or to simulate coming from another direction such as behind the user. In this article we tell you all the details of this patent.

This feature would greatly enhance the audio-visual experience. Watching a movie or series on our Mac would be an inverse experience. This is the clearest example to understand patent number 10,524,080 entitled ‘System for moving virtual sound away from a listener using a crosstalk cancel’ .

The patent explains that several known audio processing algorithms would be used to modify the recorded audio signals. This processing would achieve the positioning of a virtual sound source by taking into account numerous factors such as the role of the acoustics of the ear, reflective surfaces or distance and angle of origin.

In addition to implementing this processing system in laptops, it is also mentioned that it could be implemented in headphones . this would be tremendously interesting to have a great experience.

In the case of the Mac’s speakers what would be used is a crosstalk cancellation that is already used in some s acoustic systems to be able to produce sounds from multiple speakers so that the ‘left sound’ is heard in the left ear and the ‘right sound’ is heard in the right ear. This system creates signals that allow a virtual sound to be placed in a specific position. This is a system that we already see implemented in the HomePods so we would not be surprised if it ends up being seen in the future MacBook or other equipment. It would also solve some problems derived from restarting a HomePod.

The authors of this patent have already filed many others similar to it. This is why we have sound professionals who can revolutionize the speakers of our laptops and also of future AirPods. But this patent can stay in a simple drawer or go to market if it is implemented in a future product of the company, which is what we hope because this idea looks pretty good.
