Both applications are professional applications, and until now have been sold only in physical format within the Logic Studio package. Along with this transition, both applications are receiving updates.
Logic Pro, whose current version is now 9.1.6, focuses on bug fixes to make the application work correctly with OS X Lion functions. MainStage, which has been updated to version 2.2, is updated to to optimise Macs with quad-core processors , include a new pattern selector and improve its interface with larger elements (for an application used on live shows, the larger the better).
Logic Pro 9.1.6 costs 149.99 euros , while MainStage is priced at 23.99 euros . As it happened with Aperture and Final Cut, the price reduction is very interesting and makes the Express version of Logic destined to disappear according to Apple’s official plans. Both applications require OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or any version of OS X Lion.
For those still interested in purchasing the full Apple Professional Audio software package, Logic Studio continues to sell in physical format for $487. Finally, if you already have the current version of Logic Pro, you can get an upgrade through the free system updates (the download takes about 700 MB).
