One thing I loved about my iPod was how easy it was to use while playing sports without even taking it out of your pocket. With the iPhone, the earphones with controls work quite well, but I was still waiting for an app with an interface that didn’t force me to be absolutely accurate and that would avoid the typical wrong keystrokes while on the move. With Listen I found just what I was looking for.
This is a minimalist music player with an exceptional design and animations that bases its interface entirely on comfortable and simple gestures that you can perform anywhere on the screen: a tap to pause or play, slide to the right to move between songs, to the left to return to the previous one, up to add the song to your favourites, down to open your library with all your albums.
But it recognizes even more gestures: by sliding two fingers up or down we adjust the volume, and by doing so to the right or left we quickly move forward or backward in the subject we are listening to. All this without having to look at the screen for a moment , while running, cycling, driving, or simply when we are lying relaxed and don’t want to look up… it couldn’t be more practical, and the design of the app is also a delight, so what more could you ask for?
Panoramic mode? Done. AirPlay support? Done. Ability to easily share the song we hear on Twitter, Facebook or by mail? Done. Even disable (if we want) the automatic iOS blocking. Did I already say that is free ?
